Watch: Police chase down cyclist carrying a knife in Birmingham

A dramatic video shows officers chasing down a suspect who failed to stop for them in Erdington before recovering a knife.

Officers on patrol outside Erdington train station spotted a man at around 11.20am last Monday. 

One of the officers, Sergeant Richard Fryer, tried to speak to the man, Mouhammad Diagne, but Diagne instantly made off.

The body-cam footage shows Sergeant Fryer cycling after him and shouting for him to stop, before Diagne eventually gave up on Dean Road, saying "Officer, I haven't done anything wrong."

He was searched and officers found a lock knife.

Mouhammad Diagne, aged 22, of Erdington, admitted possession of a knife when he appeared before city magistrates on Tuesday.

He will be sentenced in March.
