Khari Salmon, 20, of Wolseley Road, West Bromwich, was caught after running from a vehicle which had been stopped in Beeches Road, Rowley Regis, last October.
The 20-year-old was tracked by officers to a nearby alleyway before he stabbed an officer in the neck with a key and kicked another officer.
Thankfully, both officers were not seriously injured.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Khari Salmon was successfully chased after running from a vehicle which had been stopped in Beeches Road, Rowley Regis, last October.
"The 20-year-old was quickly tracked to a nearby alleyway and stabbed one officer in the neck with a key, before kicking another."
As the officers were trying to detail Salmon, he led them to a flat that was being used to manufacture Class A drugs, where a large amount of money was also found.
During the initial foot chase, Salmon had discarded a bag, which when recovered, officers discovered a loaded handgun inside.
The spokesperson added: "During the initial foot chase Salmon had discarded a bag which we recovered a loaded handgun from.
"A search of the Audi he was driving also resulted in a holdall, containing Class A drugs and more money, being discovered.
"The investigation was led by our Major Crime Team and we're continuing to take drugs and guns off the streets as part of Operation Target."
Overall, it is estimated that he was in possession of heroin and crack cocaine worth more than £40,000 and over £12,500 in cash.
Salmon admitted to possessing a firearm and ammunition, having drugs with intent to supply, assaults and being concerned with the production of drugs.
He was jailed after nine years at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday, January 10.
