Strawberry Fields Farm and Coffee Shop in Coulter Lane broke the news to customers on Wednesday (January 15) evening.

It comes after Lichfield District Council refused an application by the business in 2023 for the retention of outdoor dining use and associated bell tents and kitchen.

Among the reasons listed for its refusal, the local authority said the development would "comprise inappropriate development within the Green Belt".

In a post to Facebook, it said: "To our valued customers, patrons and friends. It is with a heavy heart that I must announce we will not be reopening Strawberry Fields effective immediately.

"This decision has come as a result of Lichfield District Council denying our planning appeal to continue trading.

"...We have encountered many business and personal challenges throughout the past 12 months.

"I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported me and the team. You know who you are and I will be entirely in debt, truly thank you.

"...I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated staff. Your hard work and passion have been remarkable.

"Together, we have shared unforgettable memories filled with both tears and joy."
