Sharjeel Shahzad, 30, was accused of dangerously driving a Porsche Cayenne when it collided head-on with a Toyota Auris on Saturday, December 14, killing Shehbaz Singh, and seriously injuring four adults.

The child's mother remained in hospital for weeks after the accident in Dartmouth Road in Smethwick. The local community raised over £3,000 to help pay for the boy's funeral and the care of his mother.

Shahzad, of Cooksey Lane, Great Barr, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court today, after previously being remanded in HMP Hewell. He was brought to the dock several hours late.
