Prince Hussain said he was thankful for the kind words and appeals being made by people around Bradmore, Pennfield and the surrounding area following the attack on Pennfield's Plaice on December 31.
Mr Hussain said he had been sat in the upstairs flat on Birches Barn Road with his wife at around 12.52am when he heard a number of loud bangs downstairs and was shocked to discover people throwing bricks at the door when he went downstairs.
He said: "My wife had gone to make a cup of tea and I heard a couple of bangs, which I thought was just her trying to get my attention, but then there were a few more and I realised it was happening outside.
"I thought it might have been around the corner as a few shops have been attacked and, maybe, someone has had too much to drink, so I ran downstairs and got through the steel doors, which took me no more than 45 seconds.
