Head Rachael Kilmister said the enthusiasm of pupils and sense of family are among the reasons St Bartholomew's Church of England Primary School in Penn is a special place to be.

"The children are fantastic, there is not a day goes by where they don't make you smile about something. We talk about being the 'St Bart's family' and I really think we have that family feel because we all enjoy what we do, it just makes it a nice place," Mrs Kilmister added.

The school - which forms part of St Bartholomew's CE Multi Academy Trust - was found to be "Outstanding" in all inspection areas after a visit from Ofsted in November.

Inspectors found children get off to "a flying start" as they join and "do well" throughout their time in school.

The Ofsted report added: "All pupils achieve exceptionally highly and are very well prepared to move on to the next stage of their education.

"The school carefully supports pupils to be successful in all aspects of school life."
