Changes will be made to Staveley Road and Leicester Street from Monday (January 13).
Staveley Road will be made one-way southbound from Dunstall Road to Waterloo Road following calls for action from residents about vehicles being unable to pass each other on the road.
Wolverhampton Council said the problem had resulted in congestion, conflict and reports of vehicle damage.
The local authority added there have also been issues caused by drivers parking on the pavement and the storage of goods and large rubbish bins along the street.
Alongside the one-way system being introduced, loading restrictions as well as bollards will be installed to prevent Staveley Road being obstructed and parking bays will be provided.
The nearby Leicester Street will meanwhile be made one-way westbound, from Staveley Road to Gloucester Street.
Some sections of double yellow lines will be removed on both Leicester Street and Staveley Road to allow for some additional on-street parking.
Parking restrictions will also be in place along the south side of Dunstall Road between Dunstall Hill and Staveley Road to improve the flow of traffic and safety for pedestrians, Wolverhampton Council said.
Councillor Qaiser Azeem, cabinet member for transport and green city at the authority, said: “There has been a detailed assessment of the area and issues there and following public consultation we are now taking action to provide a safer, free-flowing environment for traffic and pedestrians.
“By removing two-way traffic movements, it will allow more space for cars to park on the road, removing the need for vehicles to park on the pavement.
“I would ask people to help by always parking your vehicle on the carriageway and in a marked bay, observing parking and loading restrictions and storing waste containers on private land.
“We have listened to residents and businesses, and we will continue to work closely with the community as we monitor traffic and safety in the area.”
After the changes come into effect from January 13, there will be a two week period where no warning notices will be issued unless drivers have parked in a way which is considered to be dangerous.
Matchday parking permit scheme extended
Wolverhampton Council has also announced that from January 13 there will be extension of the matchday parking permit scheme for those visiting Molineux Stadium.
It will cover more streets and allow residents to park outside their homes.
Drivers parking within a designated parking zone have been advised they need a permit when Wolverhampton Wanderers are playing at Molineux and during advertised events.
