West Midlands Drag Race UK legend Ginny Lemon 'in tears' with heartfelt tribute to The Vivienne
Drag Race UK legend Ginny Lemon, from Worcester, paid a heartfelt tribute to fellow drag artist The Vivienne after the artist died aged 32.
Lewis Mandall, famously known for storming off the Drag Race UK runway under the persona Ginny Lemon, said they were "drippin' in tears" after the loss of their dear friend James Lee Williams, aka The Vivienne.
The 36-year-old explained that the pair had performed together before Ginny's famous appearance on Ru Paul's show and that The Vivienne offered them advice for the upcoming competition.
Williams had won the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK back in 2019 and starred in musical theatre and TV productions.
In a post on Facebook, the heartbroken drag artist wrote: "The last show I did before I left for drag race was with The Vivienne, she gave me a wink wink* and supported me throughout my drag race journey, all the advice I didn’t take, all the silly voice notes and supportive messages.
"God I loved working with you and I loved our famous fights even more. I’m gonna miss you gal. Love you I’M DRIPPIN’ … in tears."
The post included pictures of the stars together, adding that The Vivienne had suggested taking the snaps before Ginny became a star too.
James Lee Williams, better known as drag queen The Vivienne, died aged 32 last weekend. Publicist Simon Jones said the performer was "an incredibly loved, warm-hearted and amazing person".
The show paid tribute to the drag star on social media, saying they were "deeply saddened" by the news of the performer's death.
Cheshire Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the performer's death.
