Jury in Helen Kempster murder trial are played audio of struggle

The jury in the trial of a man accused of the murder of Wolverhampton woman Helen Kempster have listened to harrowing footage of the alleged attack.

On the first day of the trial of Rahul Sharma, aged 31, at Wolverhampton Crown Court, CCTV evidence and audio which the prosecution say link him to the rape and murder of sex worker Helen Kempster.

Sharma is accused of the murder and rape of Miss Kempster, who was found with fatal injuries in Kingsland Road, West Park in the early hours of June 16, 2022.

Peter Glenser KC said CCTV evidence linked Sharma on the night to the area of Kingsland Road and Newhampton Road.

It showed that he was with his parents earlier on in the evening. After taking him to a petrol station to buy alcohol and cigarettes they left him near to Park Avenue where he allegedly made his way to Kingsland Road.
