Two cannabis grows discovered on same Staffordshire street days apart - detectives launch investigation

Detectives are investigating after two cannabis grows were discovered on a Lichfield road within the same week.

Police were first called to Walsall Road in the Muckley Corner area to a report of a burglary at an address just before 6.45pm on December 31.

Officers found 46 cannabis plants inside the property which was later secured, a Staffordshire Police spokesperson said.

The plants were also seized and the electrics made safe.

In a second incident, police received a report from British Gas just after 9.30am on January 2 of a suspected cannabis grow at another property on the same road.

Officers discovered the "remains" of two cannabis grows and a suspected stolen Peugeot outside, the force spokesperson added.

A 58-year-old man, from the Lichfield area, was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and theft of a motor vehicle.

He has been released under investigation while police enquiries continue.
