Series of road closures announced in Staffordshire - everything you need to know

A number of road closures have been announced affecting motorists in Staffordshire.

Staffordshire County Council has issued a notice to residents that some roads will be temporarily shut this month as works are carried out across the county.

Diversion routes will be put in place for each of the road closures, which will affect people travelling within the Lower Penn, Codsall, Essington, Kinver, Brineton and Kingswood areas.

It comes as work continues across Staffordshire to improve its roads, as the county council revealed its crews have repaired nearly 28,000 potholes since last April.

Essington​​​​

Upper Sneyd Road and High Hill in Essington, near Wolverhampton, will shut from January 6 for gas main replacement works to be carried out.

The works are expected to be completed by January 31.

Kingswood 

County Lane in Kingswood, near Codsall, will shut on January 7 for fibre installation works to be carried out by telecom company Openreach.

The works are expected to be completed the same day, with the road closure in place from 9.30am to 3.30pm.

Penkridge 

Pinfold Lane in Penkridge, near Wolverhampton, will close from 9.30am on January 6 for traffic signal upgrade works.

The works are anticipated to be completed by 3pm on January 17.

Lower Penn

Springhill Lane in Lower Penn, on the outskirts of Wolverhampton, will also close on January 6 for gas main replacement works.

Staffordshire County Council advised the works should be completed by February 21.

Brineton

The road from Great Chatwell to Blymhill Marsh in the hamlet of Brineton, near to Wheaton Aston, will close on January 6 for entrance construction works.

The county council said it is expected the works will be completed by January 31.

Kinver

Application has been made to close Kinver High Street from January 20 for gas disconnection works.

The road would reopen after works are completed on the anticipated date of January 22.

Codsall

Wood Road in Codsall, near Wolverhampton, will shut off to traffic from 8am on January 22 for utility works to be carried out by Severn Trent Water.

The works are expected to be finished by 4pm on January 24.
