Black Country bus services disrupted and diverted by 'difficult road conditions' after snowfall

Several National Express West Midlands bus services have been affected by weather and road conditions after snow fell overnight.

The bus company issued a "severe weather update" at 8am on Sunday. The Black Country is covered by a Met Office yellow weather warning for snow and ice, which is in place until midnight tonight and warns of disruption to travel.

National Express West Midlands said: "Due to difficult road conditions and low temperatures, the following services are currently affected.

"If your service is not listed, there are no reported diversions in place and it will continue on its normal route."

  • 3 West Bromwich to Merry Hill Buses are diverting from Powke Lane island: continue onto Powke Lane, first left Cox's Lane and onto normal line of route.

  • 12A Dudley to Birmingham Buses will use City Road in both directions.

  • 13A Blackheath to Birmingham From Bleakhouse Road buses are diverting via, right Wolverhampton Road, left Pound Road, left Grafton Road, continue Lansdown Road, right Hurst Green Road and onto normal line of route.

  • 18 Yardley Wood to Bartley Green Buses are using Bell Hill and Long Nuke Road.

  • 35 Birmingham to Hawkesley Buses are using Parsons Hill, Masshouse Lane and Shannon Road in both directions, missing out Hillmeads Road.

  • 49 West Bromwich to Bearwood Buses will be using Wolverhampton Road, Hagley Road, Wolverhampton Road South, Court Oak Road, Croftdown Road, Lordswood Road, Hagley Road, Wolverhampton Road and onto normal line of route in both directions.

  • 49 Solihull to Rubery Great Park Buses are using Parsons Hill, Masshouse Lane and Shannon Road in both directions, missing out Hillmeads Road.

Birmingham Airport suspended operations for several hours overnight “for snow clearing and safety reasons”, but said it was on schedule for “business as usual” to start the morning.
