Members of a Black Country based amateur theatre group will be paying tribute to a former writer when they put on a fairy tale production later this month.

Sleeping Beauty: The True Story was written by Mike Clifford who passed away seven years ago and money raised from the performances will go towards Cancer Research UK.
Scheduled for January 16th–18th at the Dormston Mill Theatre in Sedgley, the production offers a new and imaginative interpretation of the well-loved fairy tale with an intriguing twist.
A spokesman for Smile Productions said: "Since we were founded in 2020, Smile Productions has steadily gained recognition for fostering local talent, bringing people together, and providing an accessible platform for theatre enthusiasts.
"Each show under their banner aims to enrich the community by blending the arts with giving back, sometimes in the form of donating to charity.
This performance promises an engaging mix of humour, drama, and musical elements, showcasing our strong commitment to quality theatre.
"And it will be not only a tribute to Mike Clifford’s legacy but also a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK which will go to support vital research."
