West Midlands Metro alerted its customers to the problem at about 11.12am on Sunday (December 29).
Writing to X, formerly Twitter, it said there would be no service between Priestfield and Wolverhampton Station metro stops, with trams turning at Priestfield.
Services were however still operating between Priestfield and Edgbaston Village.
The disruption has been caused by a vehicle blocking the tracks on Bilston Road.
Tram tickets were being accepted on West Midlands Railway services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham while the disruption was ongoing.
In a later update to X at about 3.38pm, West Midlands Metro said trams were once again running between Wolverhampton Station and Edgbaston Village.
National Express West Midlands also warned its customers of disruption to its service 79, which runs between West Bromwich and Wolverhampton, as a result of the vehicle on Bilston Road.
Writing to X just after 12.20pm, the regional bus company said: "The following service 79 is on diversion due to broken down car and a tram stuck behind on Bilston Road.
"Towards Wolverhampton only: Wellington Rd, Stowheath Rd, Willenhall Rd, 529 route in the bus station."
Separately, rail passengers travelling between Wolverhampton and Stafford faced disruption to their journeys on Sunday due to damage caused to overhead electric wires.
