Rail disruptions after engineering works overrun

Rail services via Wolverhampton have experienced heavy disruption due to engineering works overruning

Passengers have been warned to plan ahead and check journey planners after engineering works overran their deadlines. 

Services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street have also been cancelled with replacement bus services running between Wolverhamtpon and Shrewsbury. 

Services between Walsall and Birmingham New Street continue to run, with tickets being accepted on West Midlands Metro between Birmingham and Wolverhamtpon. 

Live travel updates are reporting 'major problems' on Birmingham New Street lines, the Shrewsbury via Telford route and the Walsall and Wolverhampton.

All passengers have been urged to plan ahead of travelling.

West Midlands Railway said on X: "Due to overrunning engineering works, services will be affected.

"Services between Birmingham New Street to Shrewsbury, Walsall to Wolverhampton. Ticket acceptance with West Midlands Metro, Birmingham to Wolverhampton. 

"Replacement bus services, Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury."
