Driver reported and van taken off road after found overweight on Staffordshire road

A van travelling down the M6 near Stafford was found to be overweight after being stopped by police.

Officers from Staffordshire Police Road Crime Team pulled over the van on M6 near Doxey in Stafford after it appeared to be sitting on its bump stops.

Closer inspection by the officers found the van to be more 2.2 tons overweight and saw the vehicle taken off the road and the driver reported to court.

A spokesman for the Staffordshire Police Road Crime Team said: "This 3.5 ton van was stopped on the M6 at Doxey. 

"As you can see, it appears a little over weight, 2.2 tons to be precise as it was sitting on its bump stops.
