The store will be the latest Lidl location to open in the West Midlands, with residents welcoming the development saying that it is 'needed' in the area.

In the new pictures, the iconic blue and yellow sign can be seen hanging over the entrance to the store, with workers' vehicles being seen sitting nearby.

The outside of the building looks to be almost completely finished, with workers being seen going inside and outside of the partially built supermarket.

The five-acre site was the former home of the Horse and Jokey, a pub that was formally loved by residents, however it, sadly closed following Covid.

Talking about the latest developments, Jodie Taylor, 30, a resident of the area, said: "I really can't wait for it to open.

"We really need something like this here. It's a shame about the Horse and Jockey, but a Lidl is very much a good alternative."

The new supermarket is expected to create around 40 jobs for the local community, with the doors expected to open early next year - no exact date has been given yet.
