The emergency service has received more than 2,000 hoax calls in the last three years.

Figures obtained by Medical Negligence Assist show that, since 2021, ambulance crews responded to 2,121 hoax calls when they could have been helping people in need.

During that time, ambulance crews responded to 40 of what turned out to be time-wasting hoaxes.

On December 3, this year WMAS and the British Transport Police were called to reports of a casualty on the lines at Bloxwich in Walsall.
