The Wonder on Dudley West Road is set to reopen on Friday, December 20 following an investment of more than £255,000 by owners Proper Pubs, the community wet-led operator division of Admiral Taverns, which operates more than 200 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales.

The pub has undergone a complete internal transformation including a total refurbishment of the bar area to create a more modern and welcoming atmosphere, as well as brand new flooring, fittings fixtures and furniture throughout.

Outside, the pub has brand new lighting and signage to greet customers as well as a newly renovated beer garden complete with new furniture and covered seating booths.

To celebrate the reopening, the pub will welcome customers back from 12pm with lively Christmas music and the entertainment will continue over the weekend with a live DJ set from 7pm on Saturday followed by karaoke on Sunday from 3pm to 7pm.

The Wonder will offer a wide range of drinks promotions, including Wine Wednesday, where customers can get £2 off a bottle, Fizz Friday, offering customers a bottle of fizz for £10, along with cocktails, bottle  and shot deals throughout the week.

Adam Riese, operator of The Wonder, said: “The pub is looking absolutely fantastic already. It’s been such an incredible transformation, and I’m thrilled that it will be open just in time for Christmas.

"Having grown up in the local area, it’s unsurprising that this one holds such special place in my heart.

"As part of my commitment to the community, I plan on doing everything I can to support all aspects of local  life and, to kick things off, we’ll be collecting food for a nearby food bank and fundraising to have a lifesaving defibrillator installed.”

On top of the drinks selection, The Wonder will also have Sky and TNT Sports and will run a busy schedule of entertainment including regular bingo, karaoke and DJ nights to bring the community together.

Matthew Gurney, operations director for Proper Pubs, said: “I am very excited to see The Wonder reopen and I am thrilled to welcome Adam as the operator.

"The pub is already looking brilliant, and we’re just putting together those final touches to ensure it’s ready to welcome the community back.

"On behalf of the Proper Pubs team, we would like to wish Adam every success for the future as he works  to make The Wonder a fantastic hub for the local area.”
