Crane taken down from site of abandoned leisure area in Wolverhampton city centre

The crane has gone, but questions still remain about the future of a key regeneration site which was supposed to have been the location for Wolverhampton's proposed 'box space' leisure scheme.

The massive crane, which dominated the skyline on the site between Bell Street and Cleveland Street, close to the Mander Centre, was taken down on Monday.

The area was originally earmarked to become the Wolverhampton Council's long-awaited 'box space', and hoardings around the site in Cleveland Street still say that the space will be opening this year.
