Officers from West Midlands Police remain on the scene today at the Birmingham Centenary Square Christmas fairground where the 180ft Star Flyer ride collapsed on Thursday night, injuring a number of people.
Police are assisting the Health & Safety Executive investigate the incident after 13 people that were on the 180ft tall ride were assessed by West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics.
Two people were taken to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital with injuries not thought to be serious, while the remaining casualties were discharged at the scene.
A cordon is in place at the fairground today (Friday, December 13), which is run by Ice Skate Birmingham and Danter Attractions. It is expected to remain in place throughout the day.
West Midlans Police said that two men aged, 55 and 21, were arrested at the scene last night on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and obstructing officers and remain in custody today.
