Chaos struck Birmingham last night as the City Flyer ride at the Christmas fairground in Centenary Square 'dropped to the ground' leaving 13 people needing treatment by medics - and two of them needing to be taken to hospital - as Centenary Square was swarmed by emergency services to provide assistance to those affected as the ride 'failed and crashed'.

The incident took place yesterday, Thursday, December 12, at around 7.30pm, nobody has been reported to be seriously injured.

“While we are relieved to have heard that no-one has received life-threatening injuries, this must have been a terrible incident to experience.

“We have already spoken with the owners of Ice Skate Birmingham, which operates the ride, and we know that they will now be working closely with the authorities to find out exactly what went wrong.”
