National Express West Midlands confirms single bus fare rises - here's when the new prices will start

National Express West Midlands has confirmed that the cost of adult single tickets on buses in the West Midlands will be £2.90 from Sunday, January 5, with all of its other tickets and passes remaining the same.

The bus operator’s single tickets will be cheaper than the government’s revised single bus fare cap of £3 - which has increaed from £2. 

The government’s new scheme begins on January 1.

Antony Goozee, Bus Strategy and Commercial Director for National Express, said: “Bus is by far the most popular form of public transport here in the West Midlands and we are proud to provide affordable bus travel for passengers across the communities that we serve.

“From January 5, our single fares will be cheaper than the government’s £3 single fare cap and all of our other fares remain unchanged, providing a range of great value tickets and passes to suit our customers’ needs.”

Customers travelling on National Express West Midlands buses before January 5 will be charged £2 per single journey, while from January 5 onwards, single journeys will be £2.90.
