Bosses at Charles Swann(Walsall) coal storage and distribution yard in Old Landywood Lane in Essington near Willenhall have submitted a retrospective plan to retain upgraded hardstanding and sheds as part of efforts to smarten and upgrade the facilities.

Representing the business planning agent Steve Chapman MRTPI Devaplan Ltd stated:  "The development  - will replace previous unsightly and sprawling open storage areas and external unenclosed plant and machinery by internal storage and plant within buildings of reduced overall volume which take into account their immediate context thereby increasing the openness of the Green Belt and enhancing visual amenity."
