Van driver found asleep at the wheel in Brierley Hill arrested for drink driving and weapon offences after police find machete

A van driver has been arrested after police found him at the wheel smelling of alcohol and with a machete in the vehicle.

Brierley Hill's neighbourhood police team spotted a van parked at the side of the road with the engine running and the man asleep at the wheel. 

Officers reported the man 'smelling strongly' of alcohol, and upon searching the van found a 'large machete'.

He was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle and possession of a bladed article.
