Delivery driver left seriously injured after being bitten by dogs on Brierley Hill road - three arrested

Three people have been arrested after an incident which left an Evri delivery driver seriously injured after being attacked by two dogs on a Brierley Hill Road.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon around 1.25pm on Norwood Road and saw an ambulance crew arrive at the scene and give treatment to the female driver, who was then taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.

A man in his 40s and two women, one in her 50s and one in her 70s, were arrested on suspicion of owning/being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control in a public place, while the dogs were seized at the scene and put into secure kennels.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a woman being bitten by a dog on Norwood Road in Brierley Hill at around 1.25pm. 

"An ambulance was sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered a woman with serious injuries who, following treatment from ambulance staff, was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital."

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "Three people have been arrested after a woman was seriously injured when she was attacked by dogs in Brierley Hill yesterday.

"The woman is believed to have been making deliveries in Norwood Road, when two dogs, believed to be Rottweilers, attacked her at just after 1pm.

"She suffered serious arm and leg injuries and was taken to hospital.

"A man in his 40s and two women, one in her 70s and the second in her 50s, were arrested on suspicion of owning/being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control in a public place.

"They were later released on police bail while enquiries continue.

"The dogs were seized from the scene by police and remain in secure kennels as the investigation continues.

A spokesman for Evri said: "Couriers are at the heart of our business and their wellbeing is a top priority. 

"Our thoughts are with the courier and her family, and we’re wishing her a fast and full recovery. 

"We’re unable to comment on specifics of the incident due to the ongoing police investigation."
