A family-run Indian restaurant which has been serving home-cooked, fresh curries made from scratch has been acknowledged as the best in the West Midlands after winning an award.
Ramadan Restaurant in Sutton Coldfield was named as the Asian Restaurant of The Year West Midlands at the 2024 Asian Curry Awards in London.
The restaurant, which is owned and run by Joynal Abdin and his sons, fought off competition from across the region to come out on top at the awards on November 17.
Mr Abdin spoke about the judging process and how he felt when the restaurant was named as the winner.
He said: "When we were shortlisted for the award, the judges came to us and they tasted everything and looked around our restaurant, then went to other places as part of the competition.
"They then went and scored for everything and I found out at the awards night that we'd scored the highest overall for the food and the service.
"It was just a great honour to win this and I'm so happy about winning this award."
Ramadan's menu includes a range of curries, baltis, biryanis and tandoori dishes, but is best-known for its Tawa dishes and low-fat options.
The restaurant also offers 20 per cent off the price of takeaways and a special Sunday offer as a way to support customers.
The winners of this year's Asian Curry Awards came from across the country and were announced at a gala dinner held at London's Grosvenor House, hosted by BBC news anchor Samantha Simmonds.
They were chosen by a panel of judges from a shortlist of finalists voted for by the public.
