Police appeal following attempted robbery

Investigating officers are looking for information after an attempted robbery in Darlaston on Friday morning.

The appeal comes after a masked man entered the Select and Save store in Wolverhampton Street and demanded money from a shop worker just before 6am.

The man was hit across the head with a knife handle a number of times before the attacker fled empty-handed.

The attacker is believed to have fled in the direction of Heathfield Lane and officers are now reviewing CCTV in the area to identify who was involved. 

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "The man was hit across the head with a knife handle a number of times before the attacker fled empty-handed.

"We understand the attacker fled in the direction of Heathfield Lane and we're now reviewing CCTV in the area to identify who was was involved. 

Officers say from the initial description, the attacker is believed to have been white and was wearing black trousers and a black hoodie.
