Previously a birthing partner could only stay for a certain amount of time during the birthing process but now they will be able to be with the new mothers throughout and until the new arrivals go home.
The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which looks after the hospital, tweeted the news and said the new guidelines also included the provision for two additional visitors between noon and 8pm.
Children of the parents who are admitted to the maternity unit during labour are permitted to stay from 3-5 pm as are two additional visitors.
