Walsall and Staffordshire train line flooded amid Storm Bert aftermath floods and wind warnings

Trains have been cancelled between Walsall and Rugeley due to the line being flooded.

As the Storm Bert aftermath rains and winds batters the West MIdlands buses and train services have been thrown into chaos whilst motorists face multiple road closures.

This afternoon West Midlands Railway told passengers the Walsall to Rugeley line was submerged. 

WMR tweeted: "Flooding between Walsall and Rugeley Trent Valley  Due to flooding, the line is blocked. Services will be unable to run between these stations."

After closing the Birmingham - Wolverhampton - Shrewsbury line earlier in the day this afternoon West Midlands Railway confirmed the line had reopened. 

WMR tweeted: "Flooding at Shrewsbury The line has reopened with speed restrictions and will be monitored. Delays are expected. Road transport will remain in place until the end of the day."

Bus services have been thrown into disarray with services covering Walsall, Stourbridge, Brownhills and Wolverhampton being diverted.

In Dudley West Midlands Fire Service have closed Pensnett Road. National Express West Midlands tweeted: "Due to Pensnett Road being closed by the Fire Brigade, Services 15/15A are diverted. 

"To Merry Hill:  Tiled House Lane, Commonside, High Street, Island, Pensnett Road, Stourbridge Road, Island Carry, Dudley Road. To Wolverhampton: Reverse of the above."
