Man charged with possessing knife in public place in Walsall

A man was arrested in Walsall and charged with possessing a knife in a public place.

A man has been arrested and charged with possessing a knife in a public place in Walsall.

Kyle Sankey was arrested on Ablewell Street in the early hours of Thursday morning after officers from West Midlands Police were called to the scene.

The 29-year-old was arrested and a knife recovered at the scene, while he was also charged with failing or refusing to provide a sample for a Class A drug test.

Sankey appeared at Walsall Magistrates Court on Friday and was remanded into custody to appear back at the Magistrates Court on November 29 at 10am.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We have arrested and charged a man with possessing a knife in a public place in Walsall.

"Kyle Sankey, aged 29, will appear at Walsall Magistrates Court today (Fri) for a first hearing. 

"He was also charged with failing/refusing to provide a sample for a Class A drug test.

"Officers were called to Ablewell Street shortly after 2.20am yesterday (Thurs) where we recovered a knife and arrested a man."
