Signed and worn Wolves football shirts from top players are going under the hammer for an important reason
Football fans can nab a team shirt worn by their favourite players at an auction being held to raise funds in aid of military veterans.
Worn Wolves shirts from the Premier League side's 2-0 victory against Southampton and its first win of the season are among the top items up for grabs with proceeds going to the Royal British Legion. The lots include shirts have been signed by players such as Pablo Sarabia and Matheus Carneiro Da Cunha.
The club also showed its support for the charity's annual poppy appeal by wearing shirts emblazoned with the poppy emblem for Saturday's match. The tribute to war heroes was part of a campaign also supported by The English Football League.
After the matches these unique shirts were signed by the players who wore them and made available to snap up via online auctioneer MatchWornShirt which said that all of the net proceeds of these auctions will be allocated to the Royal British Legion.
This is the sixth consecutive year that the website has teamed up with the charity and football clubs having previously raised close to £3 million for the poppy appeal.
Royal British Legion partnerships boss Ben France says: “Battlefield trauma and mental health issues can manifest at any time in life and in different ways, including addiction, debt, homelessness and relationship breakdowns. Your poppy enables us to support those who struggle with the upheaval and disruption of service life, and life after service.”
MatchWornShirt head of business James Flude adds: “The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces community, and we’re incredibly proud to support this cause for the sixth consecutive year. At MatchWornShirt, we’re passionate about giving fans the chance to own a piece of football history. Each signed, match-worn shirt from this campaign not only captures a unique moment in sport but also helps ensure that vital support continues for veterans and service personnel.”
Every donation to the poppy appeal helps to provide vital support to the Armed Forces community and ensures their unique contribution is never forgotten.
