The 33-year-old repeatedly targeted supermarkets over an eight day spree and stole items totalling hundreds of pounds.

His offending happened between October 21 and October 28 whilst he was wanted on recall to prison.

Officers arrested Hancox after spotting him on High Street, Brierley Hill on November 5.

Following a foot chase, they tracked him down to an address where he was found hiding under a bed.

He admitted all seven theft offences at a court hearing at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court last Wednesday.

PC Luke Johnson from Brierley Hill Neighbourhood Team said: “Hancox repeatedly targeted shops on Brierley Hill High Street so business owners will be pleased he has been put behind bars.

“Shoplifting affects business owners and members of the public and we are doing everything we can to bring offenders to justice, but we need your help.

“We cannot emphasise the importance of reporting shop thefts so we can identify prolific offenders and keep your community safe.”
