Murder suspect arrested after man dies in Wolverhampton

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another man was found in cardiac arrest and later died in Wolverhampton.

The man was discovered in Newhampton Road East, in the Whitmore Reans area of the city, at around 6pm on Friday (November 8).

West Midlands Police said in an earlier statement his death was being treated as "suspicious".

The force confirmed on Tuesday (November 12)  a 31-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder as investigations continue into the death.

A spokesperson said: "Officers from our St Peter's and Park neighbourhood team detained the man at an address in the city in the early hours of Tuesday. He remains in police custody today for questioning."

A 58-year-old man was previously arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit assault and has been bailed while police enquiries continue.

Blue and white police tape was seen close to shop units on Newhampton Road East, at its junction with Kingsland Road, as police carried out enquiries on Friday and Saturday.
