Officers from West Midlands Police made the discovery after visiting the premises off Vittoria Street armed with a warrant yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off the officers from its Sandwell priority crime team raided an industrial unit near the Birmingham Canal at around 5am on November 8 where they discovered up to 500 cannabis plants.
The force stated: "The plants will now be destroyed. Our inquiries around the drugs factory are continuing.
"Drugs not only ruin lives, but fuels further crime. We take regular action to shut down drug dens and target suppliers and dealers.
"Cannabis farms can have a devastating impact on the surrounding neighbourhoods. The dangerous electricity bypasses can lead to catastrophic house fires and the associated crime linked to cannabis farms has a knock-on effect on the area."
No arrests have yet been made in connection with the raid.
Yesterday (Friday) in Telford a giant cannabis farm with an estimated street value of around £2.7 million was discovered inside an abandoned industrial unit in Hortonwood. West Mercia Police arrested three men on suspicion of production of cannabis as a result of the discovery of 2,739 plants.
