The M5 Southbound was shut between Junction One and Junction Two (West Bromwich and Dudley). Surrounding carriageways have also been affected by diverted traffic.

National Highways has warned motorists of severe delays as a result of a crash between the A4252 Kenrick Way and J2 A4123 Wolverhampton Road. Traffic was stopped at the scene from 3.15pm.

A full closure was implemented, however National Highways posted on social media at 4.19pm revealing the road has re-opened.

Motorists have been advised to "allow extra time" for their journeys. The AA’s Traffic News website is also reporting congestion on the M6.

A post by National Highways West Midlands said: “The M5 is now open southbound between J2, Dudley and J1, West Bromwich following a collision.

“Please allow extra time if travelling in the area as delays of 20 minutes remain.

“Thank you for your patience.”
