The tree is now on display at the annual Christmas tree festival at the Red House Glass Cone.

The theme for the tree was inspired by the Pom Poms 4 Loneliness campaign, organised by Coseley-based charity Just Straight Talk, which aims to get people talking and reduce loneliness and isolation in the area.

As part of the campaign, the pom poms are placed in various prominent locations to act as a visual reminder of how important it is to engage with people who are at risk of becoming or are becoming isolated and lonely.

Dudley Council's access and prevention team is taking part in the Christmas tree festival to spread the word about what the pom poms mean and continue to promote the importance of tackling loneliness.

Matt Bowsher, director of adult social care at Dudley Council, said: "Unfortunately for some, Christmas time can be when they feel at their most lonely. The Pom Pom 4 Loneliness campaign is a great way to get local people thinking about how they can help someone who is potentially lonely, it could be a loved one, friend or neighbour.

"Plus, we have got a great network of community groups and organisations in Dudley borough that are there to encourage people to make friends and be active in their community."

The Christmas tree festival runs until Sunday, January 5. It is open weekdays between 10am and 3pm and weekends from 11am to 4pm.
