Contestants from across the Black Country and Staffordshire are set to battle for the top spot in a charity golf day this summer.

The sporting fundraiser will gather funds for Wolverhampton's The Haven and help continue its work with women and children suffering from domestic abuse and homelessness.

Jade Secker, senior community fundraiser at The Haven said: "We are really excited for the day, and so grateful to everyone who has already signed up a team.

"We have lots of activities and giveaways planned for all of the golfers on the day.”

Teams will take to the course for the fundraising challenge at Staffordshire Golf Club on June 14.

Awards will be handed out to the champions, with competitors set to be treated to a breakfast bap and two-course meal.

There will also be complimentary beer tents and goody bags for participants after the golfing contest.

Marcello Mongiovi, owner of TRiM Barbershops which is sponsoring the event, said: "We are delighted to be main sponsor for this event for the second year running. It's going to be a great day and hopefully we'll raise lots of money for this very worthwhile charity."

Last year's event brought in £1,600 for the Waterloo Road-based charity after teams tackled an 18-hole course.

Golf club director Matt Lilley added: "We are thrilled to be hosting and supporting such a fantastic charity with their golf day. The course will be in fantastic condition and we welcome all teams present."

Teams of four can enter for £220, or £132 for members.
