David Willis was reported missing by his mother when he failed to return to his home after work on September 15.

It is believed that the 29-year-old died as a result of an industrial incident at Timmins Waste, in Mander Street, Wolverhampton, where he worked.

Inquiries led police to cordon off the Poplars landfill tip in Cannock to comb the site.

West Midlands Police today revealed the search was concluded at the end of November.

Officers say they are continuing to liaise with the Health & Safety Executive and an investigation would continue to establish how Mr Willis died.

Paying tribute, his family said: “David’s a dear, loving son and brother to Emily and Sean and a devoted and loving uncle to his nephew, Lewis, who he worshipped.

“David was a fun-loving person who would get on with all people he would also go out his way to help people if he could. David had many friends and family members who will sadly miss his fun charming personality.

“You were taken so suddenly from us in such a tragic way you will always be remembered no matter what. Your love and charm will carry on forever and always.”

Timmins Waste was also secured by police for examination following his disappearance

An inquest will be opened in due course.
