Firefighters rushed to the scene in Penkridge after reports of the fire in Orchard Crescent.

Two bungalows were discovered to be on fire when crews arrived, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

But firefighters are still unsure about the cause of the fire, which left an elderly woman needing oxygen from paramedics.

The fire service said she was taken to hospital for a 'precautionary check'.

It happened just after 5.45pm on Monday.

Crews from Cannock and Penkridge, as well as a team from Longton, were sent to the scene.

Tweeting on Monday evening, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Cannock Stafford and Penkridge are currently dealing with a property fire in Penkridge."
