The new series of Marvel artwork has made its way to a Wolverhampton gallery, with fans in with a chance of taking the prints home.

Comic book writer Stan Lee has signed each piece of artwork which features six legendary characters.

The 2018 instalment of the Superheroes collection, created together with Marvel’s publisher Choice Fine Art, was unveiled at Victoria Street's Castle Galleries last week.

Gallery manager Sophie Ruggles said: "The popularity of superhero films in recent years has created a renewed interest in comic books and our Marvel prints, which have always received unprecedented interest, are now more popular than ever.

"This new release is a chance for fans to get their hands on a piece of comic history, signed by Stan Lee himself.

"With the addition of the Deadpool character, which is being released for the first time, we expect the prints to sell out fast, so we’d urge anyone interested to enquire at the gallery now to avoid disappointment."

Characters featured in the collection include Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, The Invincible Iron Man, The Amazing Spider-Man, Wolverine and for the first time Deadpool - all created during Lee’s reign at Marvel.

The six prints, which are available in boxed canvas and giclée on paper, start from £795.00.

Lee launched into his career in comics as a teenager in 1939 and almost 80 years later he is still celebrated as the ‘creative tour de force’ behind Marvel’s ‘silver age’.

He is credited with co-creating a string of much-loved characters including the Fantastic Four, Thor and the X-Men.

The writer also went on to become publisher and editorial director of Marvel Comics in 1972.
