Motorists face proposed price hike for season ticket charges at Himley Park
Parking season tickets at Himley Park are to go up, under new council proposals.
Dudley Council says raising the price of season parking tickets will allow reinvestment in leisure facilities across the borough.
The council, which is proposing the increase from this month, says the rise is in line with inflation.
A decision will be made on the proposed fees by Councillor Ian Kettle, cabinet member for planning and economic development on January 18.
The 2018 fee for a season ticket up to April 14 is £55, up from £52.
For April 15 to May 14 it will be £52, up from £50.50, and from May 15 to June 14 it will be £49.50, up from £47.50.
The price increases come after Councillor Kettle vowed the hall would not be sold.
Other charges at the venue will increase, including fishing fees from April to November, with a day ticket going up 20p to £6.
The cost of holding an event will go up with equipment hire increasing.
Councillor Hilary Bills said that price increases were coming from the lack of funding from central government.
She said: "The council finds itself having to put up the prices because they don't have the funding anymore.
"But I can understand that people will be upset with this because everything else is going up too."
The sprawling estate includes the Great Pool, a nine-hole golf course, cafe and car park all set in 180 acres of ‘Capability’ Brown landscape and woodland. There are also various outbuildings.
