Thousands of foodies to visit Wolverhampton for annual vegan festival

The West Midlands Vegan Festival will take over Civic Hall, bringing hundreds of stalls packed with mouth-watering treats later this month.

Organisers behind the event are now preparing for the largest vegan celebrations the city has seen as they mark the event's decade-long success.

Event organiser Kevin White said: "I have been really inspired this year – with a big expansion for the event’s 10th anniversary special, which is my most ambitious challenge yet – with more attractions, stalls and space than ever before.

"This will be a unique event, on a massive scale, promoting and celebrating the vegan lifestyle like never before."

The annual celebration, which will roll into the city on October 28 and 29, promotes eco-friendly plant based diets and lifestyles to waves of food lovers,

It will fill Wolverhampton Civic Hall and Art Gallery, boasting 160 stalls flaunting vegan delights and ethical goodies from across the country.

Guests will also have the chance to watch on in amazement as 50 talks and cookery demonstrations are held, alongside live stage entertainment and countless attractions.

Youngsters can get creative by jumping into a host of activities, as well as raffles and competitions, while adults can indulge in an all-vegan bar and free samples.

Wolverhampton-based caterers Home Kitchen are also set to wow the crowds with their authentic Indian dishes brimming with lentils, chickpeas and vegetables.

Last year, the festival saw its biggest audience as more than 1,000 food-lovers united for the event - the longest running vegan festival in the UK.

Mr White said: "I’m really proud of last year’s show. We had an amazing turnout, some wonderful feedback and many more people saying that they’ll be going vegan as a result of attending.

"It was our most successful festival to date, with a 1,000 plus increase in visitors over the weekend.

"Veganism is now a fashionable and accessible lifestyle choice and this event has given many people all the answers they’ve needed to enable them to achieve their dream of going vegan, too."

Entry to the festival, which will open from 10an until 6pm on both days, is £1 on the door and under 16s are free.
