Wolverhampton's Beverley Knight has teamed up with Amber Riley and Cassidy Janson for the supergroup

The Wolverhampton singer will now star in group Leading Ladies alongside Amber Riley, known for her role in Dreamgirls, and Cassidy Janson, who stars in Beautiful – The Carole King Musical.

The powerhouse trio stole the spotlight at their busy launch event, where they unveiled their upcoming debut album dubbed 'Songs from The Stage' at London's Savoy Hotel last week.

The album will feature a collection of show tunes from the likes of Cats, Rent, Memphis and The Bodyguard.

Former Highfields School student Beverley joined her bandmates to form the supergroup after having a hysterectomy following a uterine fibroids diagnosis in May.

Medics advised Beverley to undergo surgery soon after they discovered she had the non-cancerous tumours in her womb to 'avoid escalation of complications'.

The 44-year-old, who was then forced to rearrange her I Love Soulsville tour dates scheduled for June, is due to perform at Birmingham's Symphony Hall on October 8.

Knight, who was awarded an MBE in 2007, is also set to step on to the stage for her first pantomime production at Birmingham Hippodrome this Christmas.

She will take on the role of The Fairy Godmother in Cinderella from December 19.

Songs From The Stage is set for release on November 17 and can be pre-ordered now.
