Liam Payne - or the new Harry Potter?

Looking like a cross between Harry Potter and a trainee accountant, a new-look Liam Payne kept an appointment with the Queen for an event honouring young people's achievements.

The Wolverhampton-born singer joined sporting celebrities Olympic hero Sir Mo Farah and Paralympic athlete Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, and also met up with YouTube star Caspar Lee at the Buckingham Palace ceremony.

He tweeted: "An absolute honour to meet the Queen today. Privileged to share the room with such inspirational @QueensLeaders and hear their stories."

The Queen's Leaders awards, launched in 2014 by Prince Harry, also at the ceremony, and his brother, the Duke of Cambridge, honour young people aged between 18 and 29 who are dedicated to changing their communities for the better.

A clean-shaven Liam, 23, swapped his hoodie and jeans for a smart suit and tie, and wore a pair of specs for the occasion. His new geek-chic image sparked a mini Twitter storm, with people comparing him to JK Rowling's fictional hero.
