Seven-week old Bertie and Jimmy, each worth £2,000, were taken after two raiders used a crowbar to force their way into their owner's house in Beccles Drive, Portobello.

Peter Beighton, owner of the distinctive white pups is offering a reward of £500 to catch the two male crooks who took them.

The dogs were part of a litter of five from parents Roxy and Reggie, with Tilly, Tizzy and Milo the other pups. They were taken in the burglary on Friday around 12.30pm.

Peter, aged 35, a self employed builder, said: "I'm devastated, they are my family.

"I'm not bothered about anything else, they could have taken anything, they could have emptied the house.

"We don't know where they are, they aren't ready to be without their mum.

"They've not even had their first set of injections yet.

"It's just scary knowing that someone has been in your house.

"My partner's mum was looking after the dogs, she was only out of the house for 20 minutes.

"The other dogs were petrified when we got back.

"Hopefully someone has a conscience, somewhere.

"The little one is so cheeky, and the other is just a normal, playful puppy that shows you lots of love.

"I just hope they are safe. They need to come home to their mum," he said.

Police said two teenagers were seen acting suspiciously at the rear of the property and later making off along Caister Drive with the dogs.

Det Sgt Nicki Addison, from Wolverhampton CID, said: "The family are very distressed at the loss of two of the litter. They are still too young to be parted from their mother and we would like to re-unite them quickly.

"We are appealing to anyone who has been offered these pups for sale to get in touch with us urgently.

"Equally we would like to hear from anyone who has information about the young men responsible for taking them.

"We are trawling CCTV of the area and speaking to neighbours to see if they saw anything."

The two offenders are described as white teenagers. One was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and a black beanie hat.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
