Joan Hamilton, aged 69, was last seen by care workers at Pennmakers Court, Millpool Way, last Saturday.

She is black, around five foot three inches tall, with short wavy black hair and was last seen wearing a pink jumper, black trousers, green coat, white shoes, and a white pearl necklace.

Police said she was still missing today and urged anyone with information or who may have seen her to come forward.

Officers confirmed the pensioner was living at the care home.

Inspector Ian Massey, from Sandwell Police, said they wanted to trace Joan as quickly as possible.

"We are very concerned about Joan as she has now been missing for several days and is without her medication.

"She has an underlying medical condition and those who care for her are worried about her well-being."

Anyone who knows of Joan's whereabouts or who may have remembered seeing her recently is urged to call Smethwick police station on 101.

Both police and residents have posted messages on social networking sites, including Twitter, urging people to be on the look-out for the pensioner and to contact them if they see her.

Care home manager Simon Green said they had given all the information they had to police following the pensioner's disappearance.

"We are hoping for her safe return," he said.

Mr Green said he could not comment further at the present time but confirmed staff were very concerned for Joan's welfare.
