Man killed as car hits tree in Staffordshire
A man has died and a woman has been seriously injured after a car hit a tree in Staffordshire.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Colliery Road in Brereton at 9.20pm yesterday after a Vauxhall Astra hit a tree.
Ambulance service spokeswoman Claire Brown said: "A car had reportedly left the road and collided with a tree. The driver of the car, a man, was in cardiac arrest and was being given CPR by two off duty nurses and a police officer.
"Sadly, despite the best efforts of bystanders, ambulance crews and medics nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead on scene."
"The front seat passenger, a woman believed to be in her 30s, was trapped in the wreckage. Upon assessment, crews and the medics found she had suffered a head injury."
Fire crews from Cannock, Rugeley and Stafford worked to cut the woman free from the car.
The woman was transferred to University Hospital North Staffordshire for further assessment and treatment.
