Smethwick man killed in two-car smash
A man from Smethwick has been killed in a car crash. The motorist, named by police as Albert Lloyd Warner, aged 45, from Oakfield Close, was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was driving a Peugeot 206 which was in collision with a Seat Alhambra just after 11.30pm on Friday on the A414 near Chatteris, near Peterborough in Cambridgeshire.
The 28-year-old driver of the Seat suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to nearby Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 11.30pm dispatching two rapid response vehicles, two ambulances and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
"There were two casualties, one walking wounded who was taken to Hinchingbrooke and a second whose injuries meant that, despite the best efforts of our crews, they sadly died at the scene."
