Sandwell Vaisakhi parade date is revealed

One of the country's largest Vaisakhi celebrations will take place in Sandwell on April 28, it has been revealed.

The one-day Sikh event will see tens of thousands of people descend on Smethwick.

Last year Five Sikhs in traditional dress led a procession from the Gurdwara Baba Sang temple in St Paul's Road, followed by thousands of people from local congregations.

The event is one of the biggest on the region's annual calendar.

Road closures for the event are yet to be announced.
